I'm confused.
If the contest year ens on September 30,
and these are third quarter results,
are they from the April, May, June entrants?

Yes. It takes a while for the entries to come in from all over
the world. The POSTMARK date is local, and that can be from China. So it is over a month before all entries are in for the quarter. Then, they have to be processed, read and initially judged. that takes some time.
