Congrats! I remember that story!
Why don't you share with the nice people what Object KD gave you, who you interviewed, and what research you did in the library? Not that any of that needs to remain in the published version of the story, but they might be curious.

That's one of the points of the exercise, eh? That you start with something to spark an idea. However, by following that creative process you might even end up with something else. What ultimately matters is getting a story.
Another point of the exercise is: yes, you can write a draft of a story in 24 hours.
