Let Me Hear From You!

Dear All,

Send me a short note of what you would like to see on the blog.

Best, Joni

(P.S. - I don't have winners yet for the 3rd quarter but it will be soon and I will let you know immediately)

    Hi Joni,

    Well, since you ask . . .

Can you tell us who is on the judging panel for the quarter ending September 2007?

    Sam

I'd really like to see some stories, if at all possible. I know there are a lot of people out there writing short ones, and it would be fun to see what previous winners are working on or the shorts people are putting together between quarters.

I'm seeing most of what I come to look for on the blog already. One area of interest for me is to see some statistical type of information on what types and numbers of manuscripts and what modes of genre are coming in. An earlier posting here stating that the quality of submissions coming in is improving tells me that not all manuscripts are quality work. I'd also like to see some stats on what percentages of manuscripts might have glaring problems such that they're not making the first cut. I know that everyone is very busy, generalizations or ballpark guesstimates would delight me. Another piece of information I would like to see would be commonly rejected storylines or openings that are just too trite to read deeper into a story.

    Dear Sam,

The judges have not yet been selected for the 4th quarter (ending September) -- We go through the first cut first and then the judges are selected. I'll post the information when we choose them. Best, Joni

    Dear Anonymous,

OK, be looking for this information on what gets rejected right off. There is a hint of that sort of thing back a couple of months ago from K.D. Wentworth. Just go to the archives of the blog and look for the comments by K.D. -- But we'll give you more too. Best, Joni

Quotes and more tips from illustrators to help inspire... and focus us...

Some of the tips listed earlier made me actually stop and see how one should present their work. I am grateful for that and now that understanding goes to help me grow.

Thank you Joni - Joey Jordan
